The Appearance of Humble Reverence (khushu’)

Hakimul Ummah Maulana Ashraf ‘Ali Thanvi (Allah be pleased with him) stated in his Malfuzat:

It was said that humble reverence and cheer appear when one walks with his head gazed down; When he speaks regarding general matters [worldly or otherwise] he is not harsh; When he is angry or displeased [lit: blood-pumping] he does not go beyond the limits entailed. He does not care about getting revenge so on and so on.

Blessings on the Prophet, his family, and his companions.
