Mansur Al Hallaj (May Allah have mercy on him)

Note: This is to show the position of the Akabir on the issue, not to start a debate or dwell into the issue in any detail at all. We try and avoid fitna and remain speaking the truth.
Qutb al Din Maulana Rashid Ahmad Gangohi said in his Fatawa Rashidiyyah (Pg: 248, Dar al Isha`at 2003) when asked whether Sayyidina Mansur was a wali:

“According to me he was a wali…

Sayyidina Mansur (Allah have mercy on him) stated, as narrated in Imam Qushayri’s Risala:

“He is clearly separate from them (His creation) by His pre-existence (bayanahum biqidamih) just as they are clearly separate from Him by their contingent nature.”

And

“and His tawhid is to distinguish Him clearly from His creatures.”

And

“Or how can that be part of Him which He Himself gave rise to? (aw ya‘udu ilayhi ma huwa ansha’ahu).”

This makes clear his belief regarding aspects such as hulul (indwelling), and that his utterance of the phrase “ana al haqq” was either in an unconcious and emotionally involuntary state or held a different meaning than what people claimed. This is what our master and guide, the arch-helper and pole of the Muslims of his time, Hakim al Ummah Maulana Ashraf `Ali Thanawi (May Allah sanctify his secret) stated in many of his works. This is the position of the Deobandi scholars that all Deobandi laymen should be aware of. There were many other scholars of great repute before Deoband who said the same such as Ibn `Aqil, Ibn Khafif, Ibn Ata’illah, Ibn Qudama, Munawi, Imam Qushayri and so forth.

Those who are skeptical, remember the Prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace) said:

“The one who is silent is saved.”

Mansur-shrine

Blessings on the Prophet, his family, and his companions.

    MashaAllah!

Hazrat Hakeemul Ummat Mawlana Thanawi ra supervised the work of Maulana Zafar Ahmad Usmani ra “Al-Qawlul Mansur fi Ibn al-Mansur”, also known as “Seerat Mansoor Hallaj ra”.

It is in Urdu and contains his biography in detail, including the circumstances leading to his death and malfoozat from the standard tasawwuf text. It is published by Maktaba-e-Darul Uloom Karachi.

May Allah reward Hakimul Ummah. It is truly a wonder how he published over a thousand books and supervised numerous others. This is proof of his wilaya and the fact that Allah wished to spread His religion through him.

He was indeed the Mujadid, Muhaqiq, and Imam of his time.

    Assalaamu’alaikum.

Sorry, could I please ask who Mansur Al Hallaj (may Allah bless him) is?

Data Sahib (Shaykh Ali Hujwiri) has mentioned Sayyidi Hallaj in his Kashf al-Mahjub. He says that he saw around 50 books by Hallaj in Baghdad and its surrounding areas. However, all of them contained statements that a murid makes in the beginning of the Path.

Shaykh Nuh (may Allah guard him) said of Sayyidi Hallaj, “Those who know don’t talk; those who talk don’t know.”

Hazrat Hakeemul Ummat ra has repeatedly pointed out in his mawaiz and malfoozat that the state of Hazrat Ibne Mansur ra was deficient. Also, his Sheikh, Hazrat Junaid Baghdadi ra was upset with him. (This is a major no-no in tareeq and usually results in worldly destruction, as was seen in this particular case.) The reason of this being the fact that Ibne Mansur ra did not conceal his states as was essential for a mureed to do so. He talked about them openly, feeling inability to resist. He considered himself to be overpowered and do so unintentionally. Whereas, Hazrat Junaid ra considered that he can resist but does not do so.

Also, multiple times Hazrat Thanawi ra has narrated the saying on Hazrat Shah Abdul Haqq Radolawi ra, “Manur bacha bood,…………….”. Meaning that, Ibne Mansur was a kid that overflowed just by taking few sips. Here we have men who have engulfed oceans but do not utter a (similar) word.

I read that quote by shaykh Abdul Haqq Radolwi(RA)
Could anyone give a brief bio of the shaykh please?

    Ja zakallahu Khayrun

    P.s.
Just returned from a taariq Jameel talk in the UK.
There were some 15,000 people(men only) there.and it wasn’t openly advertised.
Subhanallah….The ulema of deoband attract huge numbers of people. And many of them were adorned in the sunnan dress etc.
