Call to Destroy Uhud Cave Rejected

Madinah Governor Prince Abdul Aziz ibn Majed told Asharq Al-Awsat, the sister publication of Arab News, that he rejected the idea of destroying the site.

“They ask for blessings from that place and commit acts that are not related to Islam. Many people asked to destroy the site. I say to those that want to destroy it that destroying the site is not an option…”

Imam Muslim narrates in his Sahih (Kitab Al Libas wal Zinah) from ‘Abdullah that ‘Asma bint Abu Bakr said:

This was Allah’s Messenger’s cloak with `A’isha until she died, then I got possession of it. The Apostle of Allah used to wear it, and we washed it for the sick so that they could seek cure thereby.

Imam Nawawi in his Sharh on Sahih Muslim states:

وفي هذا الحديث دليل على استحباب التبرك بآثار الصالحين وثيابهم

In this hadith is a proof that it is recommended to seek blessings through the relics of the righteous and their clothes.
